Alex joined “Pucking Awesome!” in October of 2009 and spent many hours laboring at the current design. He also realized his dream of touching the Stanley Cup in 2007, since they wouldn’t let him pick it up. He is also hoping the Ducks win the Cup this year again. Alex writes the weekly NHL recap column titled “Between the Pipes”. During the Stanley Cup playoffs “Between the Pipes” will not only consist of recaps but also previews of each series in each round.
Phil Williams: Contributing Writer
Phil Williams has been watching hockey since randomly switching on a Capitals game one evening in early 1992, and has been a die-hard Washington Capitals fan ever since he saw Dino Ciccarelli score a goal within 30 seconds of turning that game on! (Might’ve been agains the Flyers, can’t remember) The two Caps memories I will never forget were Dale Hunter harpooning Pierre Turgeon in 1993 after he knocked us out of the playoffs, and Game 6 of the 1998 Eastern Conference Finals when we beat the Buffalo Sabres in Overtime. My favorite Capitals of all time are: Peter Bondra, Dale Hunter, Calle Johansson, Olaf Kolzig, Alex Ovechking, Nicklas Backstrom, and last but not least, Al Iafrate! Most hated player of all time: Anybody who’s ever worn a Pittsburgh Penguins uniform except for Mario Lemeiux. I can’t hate a guy who beat cancer!
